Proud to present my first series of limited edition prints based on indigenous Hawaiian fauna and species.
I've always been fascinated by the 'io, or Hawaiian hawk, with its striking profile that pierces through the sky as it takes flight.
Paired with the majesty of the 'io's wingspan, the kukui, or candelnut is a symbol of knowledge in Hawaiian culture. Kernels of the kukui were extracted to be used as a light source. These days kukuis nuts are gathered and polished to be made into leis.
DISCLAIMER: All photos were taken with great respect towards their subject matter. Nuts and leaves gathered from the kukui were found on the ground from which they fell.
